Better Boundaries Session
90-Minute Session for Women Physician Leaders
Some days it feels like you’re giving everything — and still, it’s not enough.
You’re showing up for your patients, your team, your family … but somewhere along the way, your boundaries have blurred, and your energy is drained.
You find yourself saying “yes” when you want to say “no,” taking on too much, and feeling resentful — but unsure how to change it without disrupting everything around you.
You’re not alone — and it doesn’t have to stay this way.
As a seasoned physician leader and coach, I help women physician leaders like you recognize where your boundaries are being crossed and why it matters.
We’ll identify the moments and relationships where you feel depleted — and uncover what you actually want from your work, your time, and your connections.
Because clarity is power.
You’ll learn how to speak directly and effectively — without guilt or apology — so that your values are honored and your voice is heard.
Together, we’ll practice language that protects your space and respects others. You don’t have to choose between being kind and being clear.
Let’s turn that internal pressure into grounded confidence.
- A clear picture of where your boundaries are being tested
- Clarity on what you want and need moving forward
- Practical tools and phrases to communicate with confidence and care
Let’s build the foundation for a more intentional, fulfilling way to lead and live.
NOTE: Schedule your Better Boundaries Session no closer than 1 week from today as I will be sending you a link to the leadership assessment that you’ll need to return no later than 48 hours before we meet.
I’m eager to meet you and see you take steps to thrive as the leader you envision!
Why do women physicians struggle so much with setting boundaries?
It’s not a character flaw — it’s a perfect storm of conditioning. Medicine rewards self-sacrifice from day one, and most of us watched our mentors model perpetual availability as the standard. Women physicians carry an extra layer on top of that: the social pressure to be agreeable, the invisible labor at home and at work, and the deep fear that saying no means letting someone down. Add in perfectionism and people-pleasing, and you have a pattern that was built over years — which means it takes more than willpower to change it.
What does poor boundary-setting actually cost me?
The drain is rarely dramatic — it’s cumulative. It’s the resentment that slowly builds because you keep saying yes when every part of you means no. It’s the invisible load of emails you answer late at night, committees you joined out of guilt, and the mental weight of decisions you keep putting off. Over time, that cost shows up in your energy, your focus, your relationships, and the quality of your presence everywhere you go. Most physicians don’t realize how much they’re spending until they start getting some of it back.
I know boundaries are important. Why am I still not good at them?
Because the barriers aren’t informational — they’re behavioral. You can know you need to protect your time and still feel your stomach drop the moment someone makes a request. That’s guilt. That’s a deeply ingrained identity around showing up for everyone. That’s a reflex to over-explain that kicks in before you’ve even thought about it. These patterns don’t shift because you read something useful or attended a wellness workshop. What actually changes them is doing the inner work of understanding your values, practicing the real language of no, and building the self-trust to hold your ground when the pressure to cave arrives — because it always does.
What happens in the 90-minute Better Boundaries Session?
We start where you actually are — looking honestly at where your time and energy are going and where you’re consistently abandoning what you said you needed. From there, we identify the values underneath, so the boundary you set is rooted in something real and not just a reaction. You’ll leave with one specific boundary, the clear language to communicate it, and a plan for what to do when it gets tested. This is a focused working session — not a pep talk, not a venting session. Something real and usable before you leave the call.
What happens after the session — is this a one-time thing?
For some physicians, one focused session is exactly what they need. They leave with their boundary, their language, and the momentum to follow through — and that’s enough. For others, the session opens a door they didn’t know they’d been standing in front of. They realize the boundary issue isn’t isolated — it’s connected to a larger pattern around how their career is structured, how their time gets claimed, and what they’ve quietly been sacrificing for too long. That’s where my 12-week one-on-one coaching program comes in. The Better Boundaries Session is always a complete experience on its own. And for the women who are ready to keep going, there’s a clear path forward.
